Sessions would entail any combination of the following: strengthening fluency, building vocabulary, identifying main ideas/themes/supporting details in texts, enhancing skills to infer, predict, and draw conclusions from reading, guiding students to summarize, paraphrase, and ask questions to deepen understanding.

Reading Enrichment aims to deepen the student's engagement with reading, nurture intellectual curiosity, and provide tools for advanced academic and personal success.

Sessions would entail any combination of the following: deeper analysis of complex texts (including themes, symbolism, and author intent), fostering critical thinking by exploring multiple perspectives and interpretations of texts, introducing advanced reading strategies like annotating, note-taking, and synthesizing information, teaching nuanced vocabulary, idioms, and figurative language, introducing advanced words through context-rich reading materials, exploring diverse genres such as poetry, drama, or historical fiction, guiding students through book clubs or discussions to share ideas and insights.

Academic Writing Support focuses on a personalized approach to help students strengthen their writing skills while aligning with their academic goals and areas for growth.

Sessions would entail any combination of the following: understanding writing structure, teaching how to outline and organize ideas logically, guiding students in creating strong thesis statements and topic sentences, helping students write clearly and concisely while avoiding redundancy or wordiness, teaching varied sentence structures for engaging writing, explaining the importance of academic tone, teaching how to analyze and incorporate evidence from texts, teaching proper citation techniques to avoid plagiarism, helping students balance their opinions with supporting facts and data, strengthening the ability to revise drafts for clarity, organization, and depth, and guiding the use of self-checking tools and strategies for independent improvement.

Creative Writing Enrichment centers on ways students can develop their skills, imagination, and unique writing voice.

Sessions would entail any combination of the following: 

understanding the facets of poetry (literary devices, sound-based techniques, forms and structures), strengthening the use of language by experimenting with tone, voice, and diction, encouraging exploration of personal experiences, emotions, or observations for poetic content, helping students develop themes that resonate deeply with them and their audience, offering prompts to spark creativity and inspire new ideas, developing storytelling fundamentals by teaching narrative structure and key story elements as well as creating engaging characters and realistic dialogue, and enhancing techniques through the use of sensory details and figurative language.

Sessions are tailored to the writer's age, skill level, and interests -whether they're beginners exploring storytelling for the the first time or experienced writers working on advanced techniques. 

Other services are available including specific test preparation (i.e. NC Reading EOG, ERB) and general homework help, including assistance needed with online programs such as iReady and iXL Learning.
